I was a bit dubious about it to be honest but from the first lesson, I was hooked and suddenly started sketching again and attended my local life drawing meetup as well where I enthused about the idea of a sketch crawl - who knows, maybe Reading will get its own soon (watch out for dates tbc).
The tutors sharing their sketchbooks and styles and the forums where folks have been submitting have been immensely helpful and inspiring
I decided to limit what I bought and found an old tiny notebook with thick tracing paper in it - this was actually quite fun in terms of effects it created right up to the day (today) when I used watercolours when the watercolour postcards pack I had started getting utilised. I bought a sketching pen and a drawing pad for later as well (as a treat)
Here are the sketches I have done after three classes (halfway through). I still have some homework to do. The best bit has been noticing the submissions of peers and how they view things - have learnt quite a few tips and techniques off the videos as well as the peers but mostly, to stop caring and just get on with it.
The first teacher was Danny Gregory
Then came Koosje koene who taught us shading and sketching outside
Here's my piece from the Reading Life Drawing meetup (I tried all that Koosje had just taught me) and it's the best life drawing sketch I have ever done (not to say it is the best anyone has done)
Drawing outside using colour pencils
Watercolours an introduction by Prashant Miranda
The remaining tutors are Jane LaFazio, Roz Stendhal and Tommy Kane
